In 2015, the city of Friedrichstadt is taking part in the subsidized ‘City of the Future’ competition. With the start of the final 3rd phase in 2021, things are getting concrete: a group of committed city residents is working with HafenCity University Hamburg and the planning office Denkstatt sàrl to develop the idea of a residential and community building in Friedrichstadt. The “Frieehus” project is to be realized and supported by a citizens’ cooperative, which is currently being founded.

The Summer School includes the conception and development of an exhibition with 1:1 spatial experiments and artistic interventions for the “Frieehus”. Friedrichstadt residents and students from HafenCity University are working together on an exhibition setting, workshops, perfomative dinners, walks and a closing party.
