Haus der Materialisierung aims to further develop successful approaches to reducing production- and consumption-related waste and resource consumption and the associated CO2 emissions and to anchor them permanently in the supply infrastructure of the state of Berlin. Building on the establishment of the Centre for Climate-Friendly Resource Use with activities in the areas of sharing, reuse, repairing and upcycling, the continuation is intended to achieve the necessary dissemination and normalization of these supply strategies.
In order to consolidate the concept, documentation for the transfer and continuation towards economic viability, members of UVM are working together with Socius eG on the accompanying development of a concept for economically viable operation.
The existing supply and demand structure in the center is analyzed and examined in greater depth in stakeholder interviews with a focus on the dynamics of needs and demand potential. Based on this, as well as research into comparable projects internationally, a set of existing and possible offers will be compiled in the form of a quartet, profiled and discussed together with the actors and checked for their potential. Current program and overhead costs are broken down and scenarios for prospective overhead target figures are created. Findings from the previous work steps will be reflected on in a final workshop together with the participants and concrete recommendations for the continuation of the center from 2024 will be presented in a final analysis and recommendation report.
