As part of the federal program ‘National Urban Development Projects’, ‘WERK’ is developing spaces for art and culture, research, production and social affairs in the east of Hamburg. The public welfare-oriented project development of around 4,000 GFA is based on the motto: “Diverse, affordable and sustainable”. The focus is on a collaborative operating model, needs-based refurbishment and a co-productive planning and design process. Following a change of investor at the planned site of the Kraftwerk Bille, a new listed site is currently being examined together with the Hamburg-Mitte district authority and Billebogen Entwicklungsgesellschaft GmbH & Co. The project is being funded by the Hamburg-Mitte district authority and the federal government to the tune of around €7.5 million.
The sponsor of this project is Hallo: e.V., and members of UVM are significantly involved.
