As part of the federal program Nationale Projekte des Städtebaus (“National Urban Development Projects”), ‘WERK’ is developing spaces for art and culture, research, production and social affairs in the east of Hamburg.

The common good-oriented project development is based on the motto: “Diverse, affordable and sustainable”. The focus is on a collaborative operating model, needs-based refurbishment and a co-productive planning and design process.

Following a change of investor at the planned site of Kraftwerk Bille, the team worked in close cooperation with Bezirksamt Hamburg-Mitte to examine alternative locations for the realisation of WERK in the east of Hamburg. An adapted concept can now be implemented as Modellprojekt Schule am Bullenhuser Damm.
